Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GROUPS A, B, & C?

  • A Group - Also known as the advanced group, is the fastest of the three groups. This group is for the most experienced riders as well as racers. A-group allows for inside or outside passing any place on the track.
  • B Group - The B group, or intermediate group, is for riders with some track day experience. If you are faster than the C group, but do not have enough experience to ride in A group, the B group is for you. B-group allows for passing anywhere on the track. A safe passing distance must be maintained at all times.
  • C Group - The C group is the beginner group. This group is for riders with little to no track day experience. If this is your first track day, or if you are new to Buttonwillow, the C group is a good place to start. Passing is restricted to the straights and the outside of corners.

NOTE TO ALL RIDERS: Please register for the group that best fits your skill level. If your group is sold out, DO NOT register for the wrong group! If you are too fast or too slow for your group you will be asked to move to another group, if that group is full, we may ask you to sit out until a space opens up in the appropriate group. If you have questions about which group to register for feel free to email us at info@letsridetrackdays.com, we will do our best to help you make that decision.

CAN I CHANGE GROUPS IF I THINK I'M IN A GROUP THAT IS TOO FAST (OR TOO SLOW) FOR ME?

Yes, usually. There is a limit as to how many bikes we can allow on the track at one time so group changes are usually, but not always, possible. If you feel you are in the wrong group, you should go to tech or grid to request a group change. If you are asking to move to a faster group, we will ask a Let's Ride instructor to ride with you to evaluate you first. Group changes are not guaranteed and are issued at our discretion.

CAN I RIDE A BIKE IN TWO DIFFERENT SESSIONS?

Yes, for an additional fee. Please contact us to make special arrangements. Note: The option to ride in two groups is dependent on availability the day of the event and limited to A & B group. You should register for your group of choice online, then email your request for a second group OR ask when you check in at registration that day if there is room to add a second group.

CAN I RIDE TWO DIFFERENT BIKES IN MY LEVEL?

Yes you can. Rider's are limited to ONE tech sticker for each ticket purchased. You will need to come to tech to have them remove the sticker from your first bike before coming to tech your second bike and getting a new tech sticker - customers are NOT permitted to swap their own bike sticker. Doing so may result in rider being done for the day.

WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO BE AT THE TRACK?

Any time BEFORE your rider's meeting time (8am for A group and 8:25 for B and C). When overnight camping is available, the gate stays open all night - check the event pages to see if we are offering overnight camping.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO MY BIKE?

Bike Prep Checklist:

  • Tape over any lights: headlights, taillights, turn signals
  • Tape or remove your mirrors
  • Use duct tape to tape down your wheel weights
  • Check to make sure your throttle snaps back
  • Check your chain tension
  • Check to make sure all of your levers work; front break, clutch, rear brake, & shifter

Drain plugs that are screwed in too loose, or too tight, could fail. If your drain plug fails and you spill oil on the track, a cleaning fee will be assessed by the race track.

WHAT PROTECTIVE GEAR IS REQUIRED?

  • Leather suit. Textiles suits are NOT approved - check out gear rental tab for more info if you need a leather suit for the event. Either a one piece OR a two piece that zips together. Suits must zip together all the way around from hip to hip at a minimum - zippers that only span a few inches across the back are not approved. No exposed torso front or rear is acceptable.
  • A full face helmet that is DOT and Snell OR ECE-22 approved.

ARE LEATHER RENTALS AVAILABLE AT THE TRACK?

Yes!! We have a wide range of sizes available. Please contact us in advance to reserve a suit, especially if you do not wear a standard size. Rental fee is $50/day and free for anyone signed up for the Novice Rider's School.

*Limited sizes in boot and gloves are also available. Contact us to check availability.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Your bike and riding gear. DON'T FORGET YOUR KEY! Tools; a basic tool kit, tools to take your wheels off if necessary, and a tire gauge. Water and maybe some ice! Some other good suggestions are chairs, ez-up, sun glasses, sunscreen, something to snack on, lunch (or money for lunch at the Tower Cafe).

CAN I RIDE MY BIKE TO THE TRACK?

Yes; however, we highly recommend that you don't. You will be pretty worn out after a full day of riding at the track!

CAN I BRING A FRIEND?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Check the event page for any gate fees that the track charges.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

We have a rain or shine policy. If it rains, we ride anyway. If you know rain is in the forecast, come prepared and plan on having a good time. A little rain can still be a lot of fun and its a great way to practice throttle control and being a smooth rider. If the rain is sporadic, you could choose to sit those sessions out and ride when its clear. If it starts pouring rain or if for some reason the track conditions become unsafe to ride we may temporarily close the track to let it pass. Extreme weather such as hail or lightening could warrant cancelling the event.

WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

While we understand that sometimes plans change and life happens we need adequate time to fill your space in the event that you cancel. If you cancel AT LEAST 14 days prior to the event:

  • We will issue credit towards another track day.
    OR
  • We will refund the money you paid less a 10% processing fee.

We do not issue credits or refunds for cancellations less than 14 days prior to an event!!
At any time prior to the event you can transfer or sell your spot to another rider who rides in the SAME group that you were registered for. If you transfer or sell your spot to another rider we must be notified PRIOR to the event. You can notify us at info@letsridetrackdays.com or by calling (800) 482-8848. Please provide us with the rider's name, phone number and email.

***If you do need to cancel within the 14 day window, please email us to let us know. The only exception to our cancellation policy is IF we can fill your spot with another rider. A credit will be issued NOT a refund. Please note, this is NOT a guarantee.

Let's Ride Track Days, LLC reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason, without refund, at our sole discretion as allowed by California law.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW FOR MY FIRST TRACK DAY?

  • Please read the Frequently Asked Questions tab above.

DOES LET'S RIDE PROVIDE, OR RENT MOTORCYCLES?

  • No, we do not rent motorcycles nor are we affiliated with any rental companies.
WHAT GROUP SHOULD I REGISTER FOR?

Register for the BEGINNER GROUP, also known as "C" Group. "C" Group is the slowest of the three groups and will give you an opportunity to become comfortable riding on a race track.

This group is for anyone that is new to the race track, even if you have a lot of street experience.

IS INSTRUCTION AVAILABLE?

Yes. Let's Ride has put together an experienced crew of instructors. These instructors love to teach and find great rewards in sharing their knowledge and helping new riders become more comfortable on the track. Let's Ride instructors will lead every "C" group through several sighting laps during the first session of every track day. After the sighting laps, you can continue to follow an instructor OR ride at your own pace. There is no charge to ride with an instructor, they are available all day! If you would like to request an instructor, ask any of our grid crew to pair you with one.

DO YOU OFFER A NEW RIDER SCHOOL?

Yes. For those interested in more formal and all day instruction, Let's Ride offers a Novice Rider School for $100, plus the cost of the track day.

Visit the NRS tab for full details

https://letsridetrackdays.com/novice_riders_school/

NRS is available at most events and can be added to your cart when you register.

WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF DOING A TRACK DAY?

#1, Safety! We all know that riding motorcycles can be a dangerous sport. The race track eliminates many of the hazards of street riding. There are no cars, mountains, or animals to collide with. Everyone is going the same direction. The track is kept clean of dirt and debris. There are no police to issue speeding tickets. Immediate medical care is available, as we have an ambulance and medics standing by at all times. We also keep flaggers positioned around the track to monitor track conditions and warn riders if a hazard does appear.

The race track is also a great place to concentrate on improving your skills. There are fewer distractions on the track than a public road, not to mention plenty of helpful instructors to show you around. Try one and you'll be hooked. The track is a blast!

A bike with aftermarket exhaust which exceeds the sound limit once will not be allowed back on the track without modification verified at re-tech.
